Timeouts.
Yes, there have been some timeouts. From 2000 to 2003, for example, I traded my home town Düsseldorf for Vienna. Fantastic, different and definitely worth that change.
And from 2006 to 2011 I took a break from advertising altogether and worked as a Program Director on river cruise ships. With American guests. On Rhine, Main, Mosel and Danube. In Holland, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland. With busses, flags, audio systems – yep, the full monty.
I'm glad I had these breaks. I learned a lot – about the world, about people and about myself. It was great, it felt right – and especially in advertising experiences like these can't hurt.
Life.
Alright, you caught me, I confess – and a lot of folks know about this anyway. Acting is my passion, my loophole, a nice way to get away from it all. However, it's a completely different kettle of fish.
